Kanga Digs Deep
KANGA Loaders, Australia’s leading mini loader was delighted to donate a whole Kanga-load of goodies to the Animal Welfare League. The familiar sight of Kangaroos hopping around the Coombabah sanctuary was replaced with a Kanga of a different type, delivering food for the shelter’s cats and dogs.
AWL Qld public relations manager Gabrielle Wheaton said “Donations like this really are worth their weight in gold, and I’m sure the dogs are really going to enjoy the special treats they received from Kanga Loaders.” she continued “This support was especially needed at Christmas time, when the sanctuary was at its busiest.”
For the past 50 years, the Animal Welfare League of QLD has been not just saving the lives of orphaned and abandoned animals, but also finding them loving, responsible homes. It does so without any state or federal government funding, so relies solely on the support of the community in the form of volunteering, fundraising and donations.
“We care for about 10,000 animals annually, but at this time of year we struggle to cope with the influx of animals; we have about 750 animals in our care, and 220 of those are ready to go home today. Thanks to the generosity of Kanga Loaders, we’ll be able to ensure our cats and dogs have a happy Christmas, even if they can’t experience it in a loving home” said Miss Wheaton.
Kanga Loaders are owed by Digga Australia, the “2009 Gold Coast Business of the Year.” The loaders are designed and manufactured in Australia in Digga’s state of the art facility at Yatala. Kanga produced the world’s first “stand on” compact skid steer loader over 30 years ago and to this day still lead the industry in innovation, design and construction.
“We are honoured to be able to help such a wonderful organisation, it’s easy to see why they were awarded the Best Shelter in Australia” said Suzie Wright, CEO and Managing Director of Digga Australia. She continued by saying “They do great work in the community, we are only too happy to lend a helping hand"
Miss Wheaton finished by saying “I’d also like to thank Kanga Loaders CEO and managing director Suzie Wright for taking the time to visit today and help us unload all the goodies – even in the pouring rain! it’s that sort of dedication to saving lives which has enabled us to strive for a brighter future for all animals for the past 50 years, and I’m sure with the community’s support we will be able to do so for another 50.”
“It actually costs us more than $500 to care for every animal in our care, and with adoption fees starting at just $50 for our Golden Oldies, and $70 for a Pet of the Week from the cat section, you can see why we need so much support from businesses like Kanga.”
