Digga Manufacturing Managing Director/CEO Suzie Wright, announced today the company has acquired the assets and brand KANGA, a leading Australian manufacturer and distributor of mini/compact loaders. 2003 Gold Coast Business of the year, Digga is 100% Australian owned, and the largest manufacturer and exporter of gearboxes and machinery attachments such as auger drives, trenchers, augers, brooms and wear parts for the earthmoving machinery industry. Formed in 1981 by founder and Chairman, Stewart Wright, Digga has pioneered Pendulum Drilling in Australia and today produce the largest range of compact high torque planetary drives for the drilling, anchoring and attachment industry.
Digga's award winning innovative approach to leading edge design and product quality, allow use of the latest manufacturing methods in their state of the art 12,500 sqm (130,000 sq ft) facility in Brisbane, Australia. Digga has three additional, company owned, manufacturing plants in Sydney and Melbourne, and Andover, England to support their extensive worldwide dealer network.
The acquisition has been seen as a strategic move during tough economic times to reduce overhead & boost Digga's manufacturing strength. With the acquisition of KANGA, key personnel and operations from Kanga's locations will be transferred to the appropriate departments in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Kanga's operations in Canberra will remain in place with staff repor ting to the Sydney offices. Digga currently employ 145 staff worldwide and the acquisition will ensure the jobs of 30 current Kanga personnel with a fur ther 15 - 20 new roles expected to be created. Digga's intention is to, step off from the strong history of Kanga and their leading market position in Australia to grow the product line through both existing and new dealer network both locally and worldwide.
The Kanga acquisition will ensure the highly successful loader line stays fully Australian made, and with the added strength of Digga's manufacturing, engineering research & development capability continue to grow & refine the product to maintain its market leadership now and well into the future.
The spare parts & service departments of both companies will be merged under a new arm of the Digga group to be called 'Digga Spares & Service'. This division will service both the current and new dealer network of both companies throughout Australia for machinery loaders and attachments.
The range of mini-loader attachments, currently available from the Kanga line, will be brought under the Digga Attachments division, providing an extended range to the Digga dealer network.
